This bacterium normally provides a natural disinfectant that helps maintain a healthy balance of microorganisms in the vagina. When the balance of the vagina is disrupted by the overgrowth of these bacteria, another bacteria (Lactobacilli) is unable to perform its normal function. Sometimes, the bacterial vaginosis cause can be stress or just tiredness; vaginosis means changes in the microflora of the vagina, so cone biopsy is not the option for treatment.
