Baterial vaginosis can be detected with a pap smear along with HPV.

The primary cause of this bacterial infection is the overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria and the Gardnerells organism. Small amounts of these bacteria and organisms are always present in a healthy vagina. The infection occurs when the vaginal balance is disrupted. Several causes are attributed to the development of this condition. Baterial vaginosis can be detected with a pap smear along with HPV.
