Vulvar Dysplasia

With a diagnosis of vulvar dysplasia, a pap smear is recommended to rule out cervical cancer. Doctors recommend removing the abnormal tissue to prevent the cancer from developing. Women that have this condition can be divided into two groups that have different causes. Younger women have cancers associated with HPV and VIN and older women have a history of vulva inflammation and lichen sclerosis. With a diagnosis of vulvar dysplasia, a pap smear is recommended to rule out cervical cancer.
